Sadao Bekku's father was Sadatoshi Bekku (別宮 貞俊), a professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology, the first president of Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (住友電気工業株式会社)
His maternal grandfather was a Japanese pathologist, Katsusaburo Ymagiwa (山極 勝三郎, 1863-1930) who carried out pioneering work into the causes of cancer and a professor at Tokyo Imperial University School (present-day name is The University of Tokyo) of Medicine.

He studied abroad in France and studied under Darius Milhaud (1892‐1974) and Olivier-Eugène-Prosper-Charles Messiaen (1908-1992) at the Paris Conservatory.
When he took the Milhaud class, he was a rival to Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007) , but Mr. Bekku passed.

1922年東京生-2012年没。国立1946年東京大学理学部物学科卒。1950年同大文学部美学科卒。1951-1954年パリ留学、ダリウス・ミヨー（ミヨーのクラスは別宮が合格したためシュトックハウゼンが不合格となった経緯がある）、オリヴィエ・メシアンらに師事。
桐朋学園大学教授、中央大学教授。
毎日音楽コンクール第1位、毎日音楽賞、尾高賞、紫綬褒章受章、勲等瑞宝章受章。
主要作品「管弦楽のための二つの祈り」「第三交響曲“春”」「第四交響曲“夏”」、オペラ「有間皇子」、「三人の女達の物語」、「葵上」、「井筒の女」、「ヴァイオリン協奏曲」、「さくら横ちょう（加藤 周一作詞）」等多数、直筆・原文寄贈・貯蔵先は遠山一行記念 日本近代音楽館等。
『音楽の不思議（音楽之友）』、『私の音楽教育観（音楽之友社）』、『音楽に魅せられて 作曲生活40年（音楽之友社）』、『ドビュッシー前奏曲集第1巻全曲研究（芸術現代社）』、『遥か、ひと筋の途を・・・（芸術現代社）』、ダリウス・ミヨーに関する訳書『ダリウス・ミヨー 幸福だった私の一生（音楽之友社）』ほか、寄稿多数。
外祖父は、ノーベル生理学・医学賞ノミネートの病理学の山極 勝三（1919年第9回帝国学士院賞、正三位、勲一等瑞宝章、勲章・位階は16余）。
別宮賞創設者、初代受賞者は作曲家の西村 朗（1953-2023、野田 暉行に師事）。

1951年生。私立湘南白百合学園初等科・中学校卒。国立東京藝術大学音楽学部附属音楽高等学校卒、東京藝術大学作曲専攻（芸術学士）、安宅賞 (大学3年次)、国立東京藝術大学大学院修士課程 作曲専攻（芸術修士1975年）。専業主婦の傍ら北海道・教育大学大学院非常勤講師、沖縄県立芸術大学非常勤講師15年。坂本 龍一（作曲）、室瀬 和美（美術 重要無形文化財保持者人間国宝）は同期。
夫は現代音楽作曲家の野田 暉行（1940-2022）:
大学3年次日本音楽コンクール作曲部門1位、イタリア放送協会賞、尾高賞、武井賞、東京藝術大学副学長・名誉教授、日本音楽コンクール顧問、瑞宝中授章、正四位、代表作に「空がこんなに青いとは」、「有明の海」「交響曲１番（渡邉 暁雄）」、「ピアノ協奏曲（神谷郁代）」、新作能フランス公演「高山右近」、「開眼会（藝大新奏楽堂開館記念こけら落とし）」、「マリンバと3本のフルートとコントラバスのための《朝の歌》（安倍 圭子）｣、ヴァイオリンとピアノのための《庭園にて》（沼田 園子、蓼沼 明美 ）｣、「エンデミオンの夢（吉野 直子）」、オペラ「大仏開眼」ほか多数、遺作は「ピアノ・ソナタ（岡田 博美）」、各社より出版物多数。

野田 瑛里子（のだ えりこ）履歴
1977生。薬剤師。国家資格多数。文部科学省TA（北里大学大学院医療系研究科修士）、管理薬剤師（薬局長）、厚生省や成城で寄稿経験有。
2009年E World Japan代表。
国立東京藝術大学附属図書館、大原美術館、明治学院図書館 遠山一行記念 日本近代音楽館、国際基督教大学、昭和音楽大学、各大学機関等への副業の出版物の寄贈・納本実績、於文化庁出版権登録。2023年からは、全相続作品の父の直筆譜面等を国立東京藝術大学副学長の推薦を受け、E World Japan代表として国立東京藝術大学附属図書館と契約寄贈。
父所有『Uighur twelve muqam』に関しても、2023年11月に研究目的として母名で同図書舘へ寄贈。
